Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web – Season 1 Synopsis
The series follows a team of upright customs officers on a high-risk mission. The Indian Parliament is shaken by allegations that the government is failing to control large-scale smuggling. With elections just months away, the Finance Minister puts pressure on the Customs Department to take strict action.
As part of this push, Prakash Kumar (Anurag Sinha) is appointed Assistant Commissioner at Mumbai’s international airport. On his very first day, he asks his senior officer to revoke the suspension of three officials, Arjun Meena (Emraan Hashmi), Mitali Kamath (Amruta Khanvilkar), and Ravinder Gujjar (Nandish Sandhu) and bring them onto his team. Prakash strongly believes in their honesty and sees them as valuable assets.
Arjun, Mitali, and Ravinder eagerly return to duty. Prakash encourages them to grow their unit by recruiting more sincere officers. He then reveals their main objective: to dismantle the powerful Choudhary syndicate, led by Ranjeet Choudhary, also known as Bada Choudhary (Sharad Kelkar).
Choudhary operates from Lake Como in Italy and runs bases in Rome, Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), and the Middle Eastern city of Al Dera. Using sharp strategy and inside information from a mole, Priya Khubchandani (Zoya Afroz), he plans to smuggle a massive shipment of gold, drugs, luxury watches, and other contraband into India through Mumbai airport. He proceeds with this risky move after receiving a tip that security checks will be minimal on a particular day.
At the same time, Arjun and his team prepare for what could become the biggest single-day seizure in the history of the Mumbai Customs Department. However, the mission is full of dangers, and crossing someone as influential as Choudhary could bring severe consequences. What unfolds next drives the rest of the series.

On the whole, TASKAREE: THE SMUGGLER’S WEB is a unique one-of-a-kind show on customs and smuggling and impresses with its light-hearted narrative, comic and dramatic moments, a few twists and performances by the lead cast. At the same time, the show doesn’t reach its full potential due to loose ends in the writing and a weak climax. Nevertheless, the fresh subject and strong casting should ensure healthy viewership.
